Cymbidium Orchid Show & Sale Open to the Public
Saturday, April 17, 2010, 10 am - 4 pm

This will be the Eleventh Annual GCCG Orchid Show & Members Only  Friday Night Preview & Potluck Dinner (Please note the time change from our regular meetings). IN ADDITION to our Member Only Potluck Dinner and Show, we will have a Saturday Public Orchid Show And Sale.  There is NO fee to attend the Saturday Show and Sale.

This Show is always highly attended as having the many of the most beautiful Cymbidium Orchids in Northern California.  You will see past Internation Show Award Winners, Exotic & Rarely Seen Orchids.  This is also an opportunity to purchase on Saturday, divisions of some of these past award winners. 

Many people have been so excited about being surrounded by such beautiful orchids, they have come to the Friday Night Dinner to Join and Become a Member, and stayed for the Great Dinner! 


Members are encouraged to bring as many blooming Cymbidiums, and other blooming orchids to display, as they can to our show. Spend the next month grooming your plants and bring them properly labeled, staked, cleaned, etc.  Entry forms for ribbon judging and for display only will be available at the entry table.   If you have any qualms about entry, don't worry! The pros will be there to assist you!

The Society will host a Friday Night Members Only Potluck Dinner, providing turkey, honey-baked ham, coffee and soft drinks.  Members should provide their own plates, utensils, napkins and beverages of choice.   BRING A FRIEND!  IF you are NOT a Member, and would like to attend this dinner, click here.

Members whose last name begins with the following letter, are requested to bring the following dishes 

A - G,   Salad or Appetizer/Hors d'oeuvres
H - N,   Side Dish or Casserole
O - Z,   Dessert

SATURDAY PLANT SALES:  There will be no plant raffle table this month.   INSTEAD, you have an opportunity to purchase members' own orchid divisions and backbulbs. Or as a member, you can make room for the new orchids you are buying by bringing some of your overstock of plants to sell them here and reduce the national debt you call your "Orchid Budget".  For more information on the rules for Sales, see the April  Newletter.

Friday Schedule:
Volunteers helping with Display Setup:             4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Members' Plant Entry: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM(Allow 30-45 minutes for filling out your plant entry cards if you have 5 or more plants for the show)
Cocktail Hour: 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Dinner: 6:30 PM
Judging (CSA and Ribbon): 7:30 PM

Saturday Schedule:
Volunteers helping with Sales, Security, etc: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Members' Plant Removal and Helping to Clean Up After: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Help for the Show:  If you signed up to help for the show, please be sure to attend, or contact the Show Chairperson.   Even if you didn't sign up,  but you're willing to lend a hand, there will be lots of opportunities to help.
